Ontario Fishing Licences and Regulations

Ontario Fishing

All residents and non-residents of Canada must posses a fishing licence to legally fish in Ontario waters. Non-residents under 18 may angle without a licence while in the company of a licenced family member.

Non-residents are also able to buy a "Conservation Licence" which promotes conservation principles. These licences cost significantly less than "Regular" licences and involve lower catch and possession limits. For information on fishing seasons, limits and other regulations, please consult the Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary, which is available at most licence issuers or through the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Please remember to carry your licence at all times. The law requires you to show it if a conservation officer asks to see it.
